Adhesion to unitary patent is a priority

For the Ministry of Economic Development accession to the European unitary patent has become a priority. So has expressed Simona Vicari, undersecretary at development.

The European Court of Justice on 5 May 2015 has given a final judgment rejecting the appeal of Spain and Italy, making it more than clear that the package on the unitary patent is not in question and that, at this point, not to be part of this system would leave the country and its businesses in great difficulties and backwardness compared to the rest of Europe.

It is very important to point out that only by adhering to the unitary patent as soon as possible, Italy can still hope to be able to say something on the system of patent fees and can show to join a system that will fight against counterfeiting, together with other countries of Europe. Do not forget that to protect our economy this aspect is of great significance.
