David Beckham and Inter: legal claim

David Beckham announced that in 2020 his own football team will participate in Major League Soccer under the name "Club International de Futbol Miami", short for "Inter Miami". As a result of this he would like an exclusive in the States for the Inter denomination.

This name did not please the Italian Inter team, which filed an application for registration of the "Inter" trademark in the United States.

MLS has opposed the Italian team's trademark registration application, arguing that the word "Inter" is simply a descriptive abbreviation of the designated products and services.
Furthermore, given the widespread use of the term "Inter" in football, the relevant public does not associate the term with a football team and no one can claim exclusive rights to this word.

Soon the sentence by the US Patent and Trademark Office, called to rule on the dispute.
