The new Copyright Directive begins to affect giants like Google

A recent French Antitrust measure ordered Google to negotiate the remuneration due to publishers for displaying of their copyrighted content within three months. This is one of the first consequences of Directive (EU) 2019/790, which France was among the first European countries to implement. Google's behavior, according to the Antitrust Authority, could constitute abuse of a dominant position, hence the intimation to discuss the terms of an agreement with publishers and press agencies.
