Adidas trade mark is void

The EU Court ruled that the Adidas brand - the three parallel stripes - is void.

According to the Court, which accepted the approach already given by EUIPO, the trade mark with the three oblique stripes would be devoid of distinctive character. The Tribunal added that "Adidas has not proved that the mark acquired distinctive character throughout the Union as a result of its use".

The sentence was published on 19/6/2019.
