The ratification of the Agreement on the Unified Patent Court (TUB) was deposited by Italy at the European Union Council on 10 February. There are now 12 countries that have ratified and deposited the ratification (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, and Finland), while two others, Lithuania and Slovenia have to still deposit and Germany and the United Kingdom have yet to complete the ratification process.
The ratification of the deposit took place in Brussels on 20 February, the signing of the Protocol on Provisional Application of the CBA by the Secretary to the Prime Minister for EU policies, Sandro Gozi.
For Italy therefore it remains to complete just one performance at this stage of transition for the operation of the CBA: the ratification of the Protocol of the Privileges and Immunities. Its ratification bill, approved by the Cabinet on January 14, was presented to the Senate for Parliamentary start of the process of ratification on 27 January (Senate Act n. 2673) and was assigned to the 3rd Standing Committee (Foreign Affairs, emigration) in a reporting Feb. 9 (http://www.senato.it/leg/17/BGT/Schede/Ddliter/47629.htm). The examination has not yet begun.
Meanwhile the competent Italian authorities (broadcasted on RAI, DPE, Ministry of Justice, MEF, MED) are continuing to work to operationalize the local headquarters of the CBA in Milan (Via di San Barnaba).
