As we have already announced, from March 23 came into force Regulation (EU) No. 2015/2424 of the European Parliament and of the Council amending the Regulation on the Community trade mark.
From that date the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) has changed its name to the European Union Office for Intellectual Property (EUIPO) and the Community trade mark is renamed "EU brand".
We list below some of the main changes in the new Regulation:
* Introduction of monoclass system;
* Noticeable reduction of fees (light for the deposit, substantial for renewal);
* Elimination of the deposit via national offices;
* Deposit and representation are extended to EEA countries.
